“This year, I’m going to get in shape.”

We’ve all said it, and sometimes we stick to our new routine for a little while. But then life gets in the way.

Instead of breaking that commitment you made to yourself, remember these quotes (or post them to your Pinterest board) to give you that boost of motivation you need.

Just what is it about the word exercise that is such a turnoff? For some of us this word is synonymous with unpleasant pain, sweating and fatigue, or it’s an activity that just takes too much time, money and energy. However, you know it’s something you must do for your health and happiness, right?

dont-have-time

Yes, most of us lead very busy lives. Yet we can always find the time to do the things we WANT to do (binge-watching Netflix, anyone?) So stop using your busy schedule as the excuse you know it is. Get up earlier, skip that TV show or whatever you’d rather be doing and get started working toward a fit, healthy body.

hard-great

I love this quote from “A League Of Their Own” and I try to apply it to as many parts of my life as possible.

perfect-conditions

Procrastination is your enemy. Rain or shine, be committed to your goal.

You don’t have to join a gym or subscribe to an exercise program. Do something every day to get your body moving, and have fun with it.

do-something

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
— Henry Ford

worth-it

One of the reasons exercise works is that it drives down insulin levels. Insulin resistance, which is primarily driven by lack of exercise and a diet of refined carbohydrates, is an underlying cause of nearly all the chronic diseases that can take years off your life.

get-stronger

One of my favorites. It always makes me think of the story of the tortoise and the hare. You don’t have to look like a fitness model to be in shape. Fitness is a personal goal, so stay focused and committed.

progress-not-perfection

Yes! Just keep moving in the right direction. Don’t stand still. Don’t give up! And before you know it, you’ll look back at the old you and be surprised at how far you’ve come. Good luck!
